"Compare three Swiss residential models: THE BALANCE in Zurich, CALDA Clinic near Lake Zurich, and NEOVIVA in Vitznau. THE BALANCE offers fully individual treatment and activities in Private or Semi-Private settings. COGNIFUL is a Mallorca alternative and is not a Swiss treatment location."
This Swiss comparison covers THE BALANCE in Zurich, CALDA Clinic near Lake Zurich and NEOVIVA in Vitznau. THE BALANCE offers individual treatment and activities in Private or Semi-Private residence settings. Compare each proposed program, medical responsibilities, residence model and continuing care with the person’s assessed needs.
How to use this guide
Use this page to build a clinically informed shortlist, not to replace assessment. Confirm the exact treatment address, licensed entity, current clinical lead, accepted acuity, overnight coverage, transfer pathways, written inclusions and continuing-care responsibility directly with each provider.
One-client residence or clinic
The central Swiss choice is often whether treatment should be delivered around one person in a private residence or within a licensed inpatient clinic and small peer community.
Swiss verification
Confirm the legal entity providing treatment, canton-specific authorization, medical governance, hospital escalation and the address at which each service will occur.
Zurich continuity
For internationally mobile clients, Zurich can support discreet access and specialist consultations, but the discharge plan must still connect to the home jurisdiction.
Three Swiss profiles, different care models
Switzerland’s private-treatment market should not be treated as a single category of exclusive residential care. This guide compares individual treatment in Private or Semi-Private residences, CALDA’s one-client setting near Lake Zurich and NEOVIVA’s combination of individual and group treatment in Vitznau. The appropriate choice depends on the assessed clinical need and the environment that supports participation, not on the country name alone.
THE BALANCE leads this editorial shortlist for a privacy-led audience, but the order is not evidence of comparative recovery rates. A person who needs a different clinical level may appropriately start elsewhere. Use the profile notes to identify the questions that distinguish the six services rather than assuming their accommodation is the only meaningful difference.

THE BALANCE Zurich: individual treatment with a choice of residence
THE BALANCE offers Executive and Signature in Private or Semi-Private settings in Zurich. All clinical, bodywork and holistic sessions, excursions and activities are individual. Private reserves the residence for the client. Semi-Private shares only the residence, chef and personal manager. Its residential locations are Zurich and Mallorca; selected London assessment and continuing-care services are distinct from residential treatment. A Swiss inquiry should specify the Zurich program and CHF fee.
Ask who leads the clinical plan, which professionals attend and how the residence connects with outside medical services. The residential arrangement does not establish continuous presence of every clinician or hospital-level infrastructure. Compare the actual proposal, including the selected program, residence, individual schedule and included aftercare. The current fees and program distinctions are set out below.
Current program fees and residence choices
Program and fee check: October 17, 2026. THE BALANCE offers Executive and Signature programs in Zurich, with a choice of Private or Semi-Private residence. All treatment and activities are individual. Private reserves the residence; Semi-Private shares only the residence, chef and personal manager.
| Program | Private | Semi-Private | Included care after the residential stay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Executive | CHF 90,000 | CHF 60,000 | Three months of structured aftercare |
| Signature | CHF 120,000 | CHF 90,000 | Twelve months of aftercare and ongoing support |
Signature adds reserved individual therapy and coaching, expanded family and partner work, selected clinically indicated external medical arrangements and selected hospitality. A named continuity lead coordinates support, with clinical reviews at months 3, 6, 9 and 12. Scheduled remote support during the first two weeks at home is part of the same included year. The agreement defines the scope; selected medical arrangements do not include every hospital or third-party charge.
CALDA publishes inpatient fees from CHF 116,000 per week. NEOVIVA publishes CHF 35,350 per week for its Signature program, with a mandatory comprehensive medical check-up charged in addition. Compare the actual proposals, including the duration, deposit, optional services and continuing care. These different programs should not be assumed to provide identical care.
COGNIFUL is a Mallorca alternative
COGNIFUL is not a Swiss residential center. In Mallorca, COGNIFUL is EUR 40,000 and COGNIFUL Plus EUR 50,000 per client, per residential week. Up to four clients have private suites. Clinical and bodywork sessions are individual; the residence, chef, personal manager, other holistic sessions, excursions and activities are shared. Plus adds reserved individual work, family preparation, transition coordination and three months of structured aftercare.
Included aftercare follows the residential stay and forms part of the selected program fee. It does not mean the residential weekly fee continues for the aftercare period. Ask about appointment frequency, format, professional roles and availability in the country where the person will live.

CALDA Clinic: a private psychiatric and psychosomatic approach
CALDA Clinic publishes treatment in the Lake Zurich region with psychiatric, psychosomatic and addiction-related interests. Ask which clinician takes overall responsibility and how the proposed assessment addresses the actual presenting difficulty. A private setting should still provide an understandable treatment rationale and review process.
Where the proposal includes supplementary medical or wellbeing interventions, ask what benefit is intended and what uncertainty remains. The person should be able to distinguish treatment supported for their condition from optional services. This guide does not endorse proprietary approaches solely because they are associated with an exclusive Swiss provider.
NEOVIVA: treatment in a real-life hotel context
NEOVIVA describes a smaller treatment community in Vitznau, within a functioning hotel. This can create a different relationship with ordinary daily life than a closed clinic or a residence reserved for one person. Ask which spaces are shared with other hotel activity and how confidentiality is maintained.
Clarify individual therapy, group participation, medical support and the reason this environment fits the person’s goals. A real-life setting should not be presented as automatically better for everyone, just as isolation from ordinary activity should not be assumed necessary. The relevant choice depends on clinical suitability and practical fit.
How to compare Swiss clinical responsibility
Ask for the legal service name, treatment address and the relevant current authorization. Then identify the professionals who will actually assess, prescribe and provide therapy. A founder, adviser or medical professional associated with the organization may not be the clinician assigned to every admission.
The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health’s MedReg information is a starting point for relevant medical-profession checks. Different professions and services require the appropriate sources. Registration, facility authorization and accreditation should not be treated as interchangeable evidence.
Language and location affect participation
Confirm the language used by the actual therapist, prescriber and support team. A multilingual website or English-speaking coordinator does not establish the language of every clinical appointment. Ask how important written information and any necessary interpretation are handled.
Also confirm accessibility at the allocated property. Zurich-area residences, the Montreux region and Vitznau create different travel and practical arrangements. A preference for a particular region may be reasonable, but should not be described as a clinical advantage without a specific reason connected to the person’s care.
Medical stabilization should not wait for a preferred Swiss booking
Serious withdrawal, immediate danger or acute psychiatric deterioration requires timely local assessment. Ask whether the person is fit to travel and whether a hospital or specialist service is needed before residential treatment. A high level of discretion does not remove those requirements.
For a planned admission, ask who is physically present outside appointments and what happens when needs change. A transfer pathway should explain responsibility, communication and practical arrangements. A nearby hospital is not the same as a guaranteed bed or a complete escalation plan.
Compare the whole pathway, including the return home
Before admission, discuss how existing clinicians will contribute. Before discharge, confirm receiving appointments, prescribing where relevant and the transfer of a useful summary. A Swiss provider’s international clientele should not be interpreted as unrestricted ability to provide every form of remote care in the person’s home country.
Compare written proposals by the actual services included, not only stay length or accommodation. See THE BALANCE’s published Executive and Signature program fees; price is not a clinical score. Guide expanded September 23, 2026. Use the editorial methodology and direct sources to ask better questions; individual suitability and current availability remain matters for professional assessment and provider confirmation.
Check the proposed Swiss admission against the actual calendar
Before accepting a Swiss treatment proposal, ask for a calendar showing assessment, individual therapy, medical appointments and any services at a separate address. This is particularly useful when comparing a private residence with an inpatient clinic: the same phrase, such as daily support, can describe very different professional contact. Confirm whether a named consultant will personally see the client or supervise another clinician who delivers the appointments.
Include weekends and the intended discharge date in that comparison. Ask who reviews new symptoms outside the regular timetable, whether travel to appointments is included, and how an interrupted appointment will be replaced. Do not assume that a large organizational team means every professional is continuously available at the residence. Equally, a smaller clinic may have a well-defined rota that is more relevant than its total number of staff.
Finally, request a short handover summary that the receiving clinician at home can use. It should separate confirmed findings from questions still under assessment, describe current treatment and name the person available for clarification. A Swiss admission should add an understandable episode of care to the person’s longer treatment history, not create a disconnected set of reports that nobody has agreed to interpret afterward.
Questions before admission
- Who holds final clinical responsibility for the proposed admission?
- Which clinicians will work directly with the client, and how often?
- What conditions, withdrawal risks or psychiatric presentations require another level of care?
- Which services are delivered onsite, and which rely on outside providers?
- What is included in the written proposal, cancellation terms and continuing-care plan?

Does luxury accommodation establish clinical quality?
No. Accommodation can affect comfort and privacy, but it does not establish licensing, staffing, clinical governance, evidence quality or safety.
How current are provider details?
